Né à Nizhni Novgorod en 1986, il remporte le Premier Prix au Concours Reine Elisabeth en 2010, et le Vendôme Prize en 2009.
Élève de Bashkirov et de Gerstein, il a joué dans les salles les plus prestigieuses du monde, comme le Carnegie Hall, la Gewandhaus de Leipzig, la Herkulessaal de Münich, le De Doelen de Rotterdam, le Concertgebouw d’Amsterdam, l’Auditorio Nacional de Madrid, l’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia à Milan, le Palau de la Musica à Valencia, le Théâtre du Châtelet et l’Auditorium du Louvre à Paris… et dans des festivals comme : le Festival de Verbier, le Progetto Martha Argerich à Lugano, le Festival de piano du Ruhr, le Festival de Rheingau, les Festivals internationaux de musique de chambre à Jérusalem et à Santander…
Il a été invité par la Philharmonie de St Petersburg (Krivine), la Philharmonie de Luxembourg (Sinaisky), la Philharmonie des Pays-Bas (Karabits), le National de Belgique (Boreyko) et la Philharmonie de Prague (Hrusa). En 2011/2012, il jouera les 3 concertos de Prokofiev avec le BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, et dans les USA, il est invité par le Baltimore Symphony et l‘Utah Symphony.
Il vient de faire des tournées au Japon et au Brésil. Cet été, il retourne au Festival de piano du Ruhr et au Festival de Rheingau, et jouera aux concerts d’inauguration du Festival de musique de chambre d’Oslo et du Festival de Santander.
Denis Kozhukhin, who was born in Nizhni Novgorod in 1986, won First Prize in the Queen Elisabeth Competition in 2010, and was the winner of the 2009 Vendome Prize. He studied with Bashkirov and Gerstein, and has appeared at many of the most prestigious festivals and concert halls worldwide. This includes the Verbier Festival, where he won the Prix d'Honneur in 2003, Progetto Martha Argerich in Lugano, Klavier-Festival Ruhr, Rheingau Music Festival, Jerusalem International Chamber Music Festival, Santander International Festival, Carnegie Hall, Leipzig Gewandhaus, Munich Herkulessaal, Rotterdam De Doelen, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Auditorio Nacional Madrid, Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia Milan, Palau de la Musica Valencia, Théâtre du Châtelet and Auditorium du Louvre, Paris.
Forthcoming European orchestral concerts include St Petersburg Philharmonic with Krivine, Luxembourg Philharmonic with Sinaisky, Netherlands Philharmonic with Karabits, Belgian National Orchestra with Boreyko and Prague Philharmonia with Hrusa. Kozhukhin will also perform the complete cycle of Prokofiev concerti with BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra in the 11/12 season, working with Jun Maerkl, Xian Zhang, Lan Shui, Ludovic Morlot and Martyn Brabbins. In the USA Kozhukhin will appear with the Baltimore Symphony and Utah Symphony.
In the last two months he has completed recital tours in Japan and Brazil, and recently replaced Nicolas Angelich at the last minute in a chamber concert with Leonidas Kavakos and Gautier Capuçon at the Athens Megaron. This summer he will return to the Klavier Festival Ruhr and the Rheingau Festival, and also play in the opening concerts of the Oslo Chamber and Santander International Music Festivals.
